Chris Carpenter Resigns as General Manager at the San Mateo County Event Center
June 8, 2016 – San Mateo, CA: San Mateo County Event Center announced today that General Manager Chris Carpenter has resigned from his post effective June 8, 2016.
Appointed in 2003 as General Manager, Carpenter oversaw expanded event sales and services and substantial revenue growth during his tenure. Carpenter also spearheaded many capital improvements to the San Mateo County Event Center, most notably the renovation and launch of the Jockey Club Satellite Wagering Facility and the creation of Creative Touch Catering in-house catering operations.
“Chris has devoted many years to the San Mateo County Event Center and Fair as well as the San Mateo Community” said Board President Jonathan Gervais. “We thank him for his dedicated service and wish him well in the next phase of his career.”
The Board of Directors is undertaking a search to fill the General Manager position. In the interim period, current chief operating officers Dana Stoehr and Tim Smith will serve jointly as interim general managers until a General Manager is hired. Both Dana and Tim have extensive experience in the event planning and management field.
“The San Mateo County Event Center is the premier location on the San Francisco Peninsula for events big and small, hosting the San Mateo County Fair, the Maker Fair, community and corporate events. The Board is very excited about the future of the Center, including upgrading facilities, attracting new clients, and continuing to serve the San Mateo County community.” said Board President Gervais.
