Rosies Seek To Regain World Record in Richmond –

27 July 2016 – Richmond, CA: “In celebration of the Rosie the Riveter Home Front National Historical Park both community and visitors to Richmond will bring history to life this month,” said Beth Javens, Executive Director at Richmond Convention and Visitors Bureau. “Make a weekend of it!  Multiple events converge in Richmond the second week of August to celebrate Richmond’s place in history, notably the record setting Rosie Rally as Richmond seeks to regain the Guinness World Record of the most people dressed as Rosie in one place.”

Red Oak Victory, the East Bay’s popular and free outdoor music series in historic Point Richmond and lots of artful options. The history, art and fun in Richmond this August includes:

At the stop sign (Rydin Road) turn right and come down to the end of the street.) • Sunday August 7, 1:00 PM: Bouquets, Big Hats & Bow Ties, a reception to open the Accessories, Accessories, Accessories! exhibit at the Richmond Museum of History. Everyone is invited to dress to impress and wear his or her best accessories. Enjoy fresh flower arrangements from local florists and stroll through the museum’s Historical Monument and Rose Garden. Group photograph on the museum steps takes place at 2:00 PM to mark the occasion. $5 for adults $3 for seniors and students, kids under 12 free. WWII HOMEFRONT FESTIVAL WEEKEND

• Thursday August 11 and 25, 6:30 PM: 8th Annual Home Front Film Festival. “The Canterville Ghost (August 11)” and “Bride By Mistake (August 25)”. Come enjoy these WWII era comedies at the SS Red Oak Victory Ship, 1337 Canal Boulevard, Richmond. Admission is free but a $10 donation is appreciated. • Friday August 12, 5:30 PM to 7:45 PM: Point Richmond Music Free Summer Concert Series. August’s concert features Patron Latin Rhythms (Latin) at 6:45, with supporting band Kenya B Trio (jazzy blues, funk). Point Richmond Music is a 501c3 nonprofit public benefit organization that provides free outdoor summer concerts as a way to build community through the unifying language of music. • Saturday, August 13, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM: Rosie Rally and Home Front Festival. We can do it! Rosie the Riveter/WWII Home Front National Historical Park, along with Rosie the Riveter Trust, the City of Richmond, the Richmond Convention and Visitors Bureau and community partners are inviting 5,000 people to the Craneway Pavilion to regain the Guinness World Record for the most people dressed as Rosie the Riveter in one place. After the record is broken, the party will continue with the Home Front Festival in Marina Bay Park until 4:00 pm with music, food and fun for the whole family. • Sunday August 14, 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM: Pancake Breakfast aboard the SS Red Oak Victory: Come enjoy a warm breakfast of pancakes, eggs, sausage and bacon aboard the SS Red Oak Victory!
