SF CHAMBER OF COMMERCE CELEBRATE CHASE CENTER OPENING
Chamber hosts Chase Center Pre-Opening Event and kicks off “Welcome Campaign” at home of Golden State Warriors
12 September 2019 – San Francisco, CA: 500 members of San Francisco’s business community helped ‘warm’ the spectacular Chase Center: home to the Golden State Warriors and a host of upcoming special events at a breakfast on Wednesday September 4, 2019 at a pre-opening event held at Chase Center. Mayor London N. Breed and SF Chamber President Rodney Fong were present to welcome Joe Lacob, Warriors Co-Executive Chairman & CEO, Rick Welts, Warriors President & COO, Bob Myers, Warriors President of Basketball Operations/General Manager– and their partners, Amit Patel, CEO of Rakuten, Mary Hamilton, Managing Director of the Accenture Technology Labs and Amy Wallace, Vice President, Global Philanthropy, JPMorgan Chase & Co.
“The SF Chamber is proud to have been a part of this vision from the beginning and honored to be hosting a pre-opening event ahead of many great events to come.” said Fong. “Today, we welcome the Golden State Warriors to San Francisco and look forward to years of cooperation and partnership on behalf of our community.”
To further celebrate San Francisco’s Chase Center, the SF Chamber announced a month-long effort to galvanize donations with an employee/employer match program to support the Warriors Community Foundation’s work on behalf of youth education (warriors.org). The Chamber presented a check in the amount of $25,000 to Melanie Moore, Executive Director of the Golden State Warriors Community Foundation to kick off the collaborative fundraising campaign.
“We are so grateful to the SF Chamber and its members for welcoming us to San Francisco by encouraging donations to help the Warriors Community Foundation,” said Moore, noting that the Foundation supports over 50 nonprofits annually both in San Francisco and Oakland. “This collaborative fundraising campaign enables individuals to leverage their employer’s matching gift programs, and, in turn, it enables SF Chamber members to leverage the energy and power of the Warriors to support great community organizations
The Chamber’s generosity will help us reach ever more young people.”
The breakfast program featured Golden State Warriors leadership in a panel discussion about the vision for Chase Center as a sports and entertainment complex for the Bay Area and a focus on several initiatives to support community engagement through partnerships. Going forward, the SF Chamber will continue to work with the Warriors and its Community Foundation to support community and economic development in San Francisco and the Mission Bay neighborhood.
“The company that generates the most in matched contributions to the Warriors Community Foundation during the month of September will receive up to 30 tickets to a Warriors game,” noted Fong. “It’s a great way to celebrate your company’s generosity with a night out watching the Bay’s championship team.”
