Xintong is a Chinese & English freelance translator and interpreter with a focus on business, technology, literature and culture.
Having successfully translated three books from English into Mandarin for publication in mainland China, Xintong has provided representation and translation for numerous high profile events and clients. Notable people and organizations for whom she has interpreted include: San Francisco Mayor Edwin M. Lee, former Secretary of State George Shultz, China’s Ministry of Commerce, China’s Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the United States Department of Energy, PINGWEST and the United States Embassy in Beijing among others.
Previously, as the Program Manager of ChinaSF (a business development initiative created by the San Francisco Mayor’s Office), Xintong managed the organization’s bilingual marketing materials, social media and industry information packages. She helped draft notes for the Mayor’s meetings with Chinese companies and government officials. Additionally, she provided translation services for the Mayor’s business development documents, press releases, biographies and other official communications. Xintong was the official interpreter for San Francisco Mayor Edwin M. Lee’s trade mission to China in 2013.
Xintong studied Journalism at Renmin University of China and received her BA summa cum laude in Communication Studies with a Legal Studies Minor from the University of San Francisco.
Xintong is a poet and writer with poems and articles published in various Chinese newspapers and magazines such as World Journal and China Press. She loves both the Chinese and English language, and studies both religiously. Her favorite thing to do is to "party with books and dictionaries" and get "intoxicated with the beauty of metaphors."
